Shots

I haven't written for some time. Life has been ... busy.  I hate saying that because that seems to always be my excuse.  However, it really is.  I think I'm liking the sound of retirement.  Wait, that is a long ways away. Well, maybe I can settle for Spring break.

Patrick got his flu shot the other day. I was worried to take him in because he has been off and on sick all winter long. But finally we had the time to get him into his pediatrician when the time was right.  Jeff took him on Monday and Jeff, being a nurse, had to prepare Patrick. (Really that is just what an awesome dad does.)  He told Patch that he could pick which leg the needle went into and that it would hurt for a tiny second, but that Patrick could have a sucker afterward.

So, when the nurse came in, Patrick was all gun-ho. He told the nurse where he wanted the shot and laid down waiting to get it.  Jeff held Patrick's arms and told P to look away, but Patrick refused to look away. Instead he focused even harder on looking at the needle and then watched the nurse inject the vaccination. You would think that tears would come next, but no way, my little man is as tough as steel. He didn't even flinch! He just simply informed the nurse that he now gets a sucker.

What a crack up.
